HOLINESS

15oct15 HOLINESS

Pureheart102015Holiness is the awareness of God’s Holiness. The closer we come to Holiness as human beings, the more un-Holy we feel. I am not speaking as an expert on the matter, only just one human being, trying to figure it out. As the old saying goes, “the further I go, the be-hinder I get”

From my experience, religion is mean and demanding, Jesus isn’t. Religion demands, Jesus helps. He said this about religion in MATHEW 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.’ Jesus not only lifts a finger HE pick up the heavy burdens and bears them Himself!

The Bible tells us to be Holy because God is Holy. Jesus is the Word, Jesus is telling us to be Holy. HE will help us to be Holy, because He puts His Holiness on us.

I don’t know how to break it to you, but in all reality, I don’t know anyone that is truly Holy and I’ve been looking for 58 years. Well, I do know one person who is Holy. It’s my best friend Jesus.

My question to you is this.. why does God tell us to be Holy if it is impossible to be Holy? I believe God is telling us to shroud ourselves in His Holiness. Just as faith and belief is a totally undeserved gift from God *actually it is His faith, not ours*, so is Holiness. It is His Holiness, not ours. I have heard that spending hours in the Bible every day makes you Holy. (so, because I was told to do so, I did it for about 10 years,, and WOE be unto anyone who interrupted me during those ‘Holy Moments’.) Hours in prayer and fasting make you Holy, supposedly. It sure didn’t work for me. Got up at 2 or 3 in the morning every day for almost a decade,, all it did was make me even more grumpy, and sloppy.

I have come to the conclusion that only God makes you Holy. You should pray, *continuously*, you should read and meditate on God’s word every day. TRUE! You do that because you want to, because God is attracting you. If you do it because you for trying to be Holy it will only make you mean and judgmental. Been there, done that,, no thank you!

Holiness is God’s attribute. We are to bask in His Righteousness, His Faith, and His Holiness. We are to teach others that as well. I worry if we are teaching the children here to lean on their own religious self discipline or on God. Serving God should not be a burden . Whenever I feel burdened, I realize I am the problem, not the work load or the task at hand. I find that I have taken my eyes off of His purpose in my life. We should serve God with a glad heart. In Him and Him alone, you will find His Holiness.

Our purpose in this life is to know God and to make Him known to others. Plain an simple. Very infrequently does it have anything to do with car salemen closing techniques, convincing arguments or Bible bludgeoning, going to church nor religious rites and rituals. It has to do with visiting the sick and imprisoned, loving the unlovable, clothing the naked,, being there for the whosoevers, on God’s schedule, and on the ‘whosoever’s schedule’,, not on our schedule. At their convenience, no ours. It has to do with relationships over agendas. My friend Pastor Phil Aguilar *SET FREE MINISTRIES* says it best. He calls it the spirit of INCONVENIENCE. Serving God is a Joy, but is totally inconvenient by world standards.

God bless you for taking the time to read this. Here is a slide show of us being totally, JOYFULLY being inconvenienced.
