Boring
Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
Spent the morning today in jail. Some spoiled rich kids came down from the states to surf. Flew in, rented a vehicle, loaded it with surf boards to pass away the day surfing on some of the biggest waves in this hemisphere. A traffic incident and their entitled attitudes changed those plans in a hurry. They will be good and bored for a while.
The most boring place is a jail in a 3rd world prison. I think my biggest fear about being locked up anywhere is the boredom. Boredom terrifies me because I am never bored. Today was no exception. Hot, stinking, jails, filled with hot, stinking, people. I loved it,, but it was rather boring in that the lines were unspeakably long. Always make a new friend though, several as a matter of fact.
That’s why I love to be called when there’s a problem in the jails here. True light in the darkness. That’s why I like serving as a missionary in a developing country. For this exact reason, I LOVE being a Christian, even in a boring place like bath and beyond in the state. Although I am sure they paint those places with kryptonite, I always enjoy meeting other people.
Scary thing is though, some churchy stuff often bores me to death.
1. Long winded prayers
2. Fancy words
3. Long sermons
4. Plagerized sermons *most of the sermons I hear are plagerized*
5. Pointless Meetings
6. Dog and pony shows
7. Ceremonial stuff
8. Phonies
9. Politics from the pulpit
10. Opinions from the pulpit
Every fiber in me is straining to get out of there when that is happening. The old I get the worst it gets.
