Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man,
Wow! What a statement! If I have learned anything in this life of 68 years, one thing stands out. If someone tells me to trust them, or that I am not trusting enough, RUN!!! (Unless they are your parents, most of them anyway are trust worthy. Also, the trustworthy ones don’t usually try to convince their children to trust them). ‘Just trust me!’ From anyone else is bad advice. Red flags should pop up everywhere in your spirit and is against scripture.
Trusting in man is dangerous. Perverts, pedophiles, false prophets, cult leaders, serial killers, politicians, military officers, con-men all have one skill in common. They all have an ability to gain someone’s trust, extremely fast!!
Do not be misled. If someone says you have to just trust them, don’t! Not only will they hurt you, but will hurt people you love and will destroy relationships.
I had a rich uncle. He basically bought all the property for WEGO in Nicaragua and Calvary Chapel Managua. Then he wanted to set up a micro business. He wanted to buy rocking chairs. There was an evangelical ‘pastor’ down here that he met, and shared the idea with. Supposedly he was a Peruvian lawyer. The Peruvian came down and became a guerrilla in the war here. That’s what he says anyway. I caught him in a few lies, and told my uncle to beware of him, I don’t trust him. My uncle said ‘you gotta trust someone sometime,’ and was promptly swindled out of 10,000 dollars.
Of course my uncle was mad at me and our relationship was ruined, even though I warned him that this Peruvian ‘pastor’ was untrustworthy. Just so you know, we all do, and should trust others. Just not blindly. I trust my staff, some of which have been with us for 30 years. Some even worked for free for a year during 9-11 when donations FROZE, like they have again. Just don’t be surprised when the people you trust a little bit let you down. Expect very little from others. When they do come through, it’s a bonus! Let them earn your trust. Poco a poco. Ie you trust a man to tell you the truth but will you trust him alone with your daughter?
Now who can you fully, blindly trust, immediately? Who do you go first to when trying to entrust something to fallen man? Like my uncle said, we have to trust someone sometimes. But whom? All answers to life can be found in the Holy Word of God. Keep reading Jeremiah. We can fully trust the Lord.

He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of the drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit”
