Please note that the following missive is my opinion and what I feel God is showing me, I am not a theologian.
Matthew 24:36 But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Who would have thought that we, as a country, would ever turn our backs on Israel and let it be invaded. Even more humiliating, after the invasion drag our feet to help them? On top of that, who would have thought that it wouldn’t even make headlines in most of the major newspapers in America? It is headline news for all followers of Jesus, but not for the world. Personally, I feel Jesus is on the way. Not only does God love Israel, but Israel is the timeline of the Bible.
What did we expect? The world hates us, the world hates Jesus and the world hates Israel. God doesn’t though. He adores us. Satan hates us. God adopted us. Nation Israel is the apple of God’s eye, so don’t mess with her either.
John 15:18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. [19] If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
We need to be ready, with or without the headlines. Jesus is coming, not for the world, but for us. Do not count on the world to give us a heads up. The world is governed temporarily by a roaring lion, wandering about, to and fro, looking for whom he can devour. Like a hunting lion sneaking up on the prey, the worldly headlines isn’t going to tell you when to get ready to meet Jesus. Whether it’s a rapture we are waiting for, or our own personal demise, we are going to be face to face with our Lord sooner than later.
Keith Green always said ‘live like we’re Pre-Trib and prepare like we are Post-Trib’. Headline news is no longer about anything relevant or important, let alone the most important things. Silly concerns, trends and arguments are much more interesting to the world than 1700 Israeli civilians (at this moment) being murdered, and 400 Israeli youth being kidnapped, in a terrorist attack. Interestingly, flakey stuff (but not important stuff) are what sells paper and what get clicks on the internet in this ridiculous world philosophy that is going on right now. The silliness is about to end though and the giggles are about to hush.
When I go to the states (as infrequently as possible anymore), I am increasingly surprised what makes headline news and what doesn’t. I pass by a newspaper stand and am astounded that it is about what a movie star did instead of the myriad of things that are changing our existence this very moment. But, at least people in general are talking. Even non believers agree that the Bible is in alignment with the IMPORTANT world news of today.
I think Americans, like the Jews 2,000 years ago, are looking for someone to get us out of this mess. If they think they found someone to fix everything, it may even make the news. The worldly news that is. We, as believers, know who that someone is.
Matthew 24:23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.
Jesus isn’t sloppily predicting this like an old Gypsy with a crystal ball. It will certainly happen, a fact, not just a wild guess. Like the Jews waiting for the Messiah while He was standing in front of them, the worldly people are looking for a Messiah while we, His Messengers, are standing in front of them.
John 4:25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” 26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you-I am he.”
The world (as a whole) will never buy what a bald retired fat guy will tell them. Guys like me will never make the headline news. Most of us won’t. And the flamboyant Christian guys who could probably make the headline news won’t, because they are too worried about how they look, and the damage to their reputations.
It is all good though. Jesus and I make the headlines in a personal life every time we help someone down trodden. At least in their world. Every time we share His Good News, the garbage man with the new horse, the old lady with a new roof, a poor child eats something delicious, or drinks some cold juice, Jesus makes the headlines in that particular world. He makes the headlines when one of our kids get their doctors, lawyers, teachers or engineer diplomas. Jesus and I make the headlines when our kids get gainful employment after studying. He makes the headlines to someone every time a true believer does something in his name.
Mark 9:41 For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.
The people who mock those who help others for the glory of Christ probably, by making their own headlines on social media, usually do nothing themselves to glorify Christ. Be the headlines in someone’s life TODAY. Make the headlines. Don’t wait for others. Glorify God by helping others. Make Jesus ‘front page news headlines’ to someone right now!
