Am, Singular, To Be

Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.

‘AM’ (verb) first person singular present of be.

Am is a verb.   I never even knew that until just now.   Jesus is a verb (in Spanish).   An action word.  And This action Word is God.   Interestingly enough, John (known as the the apostle thatJesus loved) started each of his four lettters to the church relating Jesus with the creation.   Jesus was in the creation because Jesus is God.  Jesus is the great (I AM).

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him;

I love the websters definition of AM ‘first person singular present of to be.’

I am not a pentecostal but if I were, that definition would have me shouting and dancing. That is such a powerful statement. God, the great ‘I Am’ is being singularly present with us, one on one. I as a mere mortal find it difficult to being singularly present at tome with my wife or kids. Yet the Creator of the universe is singularity present.  I had a dream last night (no truth to it at all) that when I finally was face to face with God He happily showed me that He had all my tears stored up and saved for me. A nice fantasy dream. But there is some truth it.

God is aware of of our every boo boo, frustration and disappointment.   Every tear, every bad mood and  joke (pray for me).  God (I AM) is with us wherever we go, wherever we are.   In good times or bad.  If we are doing what He has called us to do, we have absolutely nothing to worry about.

“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?” (Psalm 139:7)

Someone needs to hear this today because I need to hear this today, and I know I am not the only one.   It’s one thing to be spiritual.  It’s nice to believe in a baby in the manger, a perpetual mommy, plastic statues with eyes that don’t see and ears that don’t see, dead saints to talk to and little angels with fat butts flying around and protecting you. It’s fun.   It’s fashionable.   Even demons encourage it.   I call that kind of faith ‘DEMON FAITH’ with the exception that demons tremble, we don’t.  Demon faith is one thing.  It’s another thing to believe that Jesus as the great ( IAM) which He never denied.   We should tremble but I don’t know anyone that does.

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am

Jesus created the heavens and the earth.

How do I know that?  Because it’s not only in the Bible (I believe every word of the Bible) but I have proof.   When you make something, you own it and have full control over it.  You can do whatever you want to the stuff you build.  I had a fantastic uncle.   Nicest guy in the world. Nicknamed Hap because he was always happy.   Greatest mechanic and all round construction guy ever.   He absolutely Hated engineers with a passion though.  He was never ‘happy’ whenever engineers were involved.

Uncle Hap once bought and put together a Wal-Mart coffee table. He gave his best efforts in following the instructions undoubtedly written by engineers.  By the time he finished, there was one screw left, oh oh!! (The last item on the instructions that this last screw should have been the first screw in the entire 2 hour assembly of the table, which was completely unstable without that last screw.)

Uncle Hap was so outraged that he broke the coffee table into a million pieces with his hammer.   My Aunt Lee was horrified.  She said why did you do that ‘Hap’?  He said ‘it’s my table, I can do whatever I want!’  Same thing when you make anything else, you’re the Creator.

When you make a canoe for example, you can send it any where.  You can sink it if you wish.   You could put a sail on it and make it a sail boat.  You can even burn it, not use it at all, or give it to a lucky neighbor.   Totally up to you, like Uncle Hap’s poor coffee table.

Romans 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

Jesus controls the world.   He can use His hands, His thoughts, His voice, His commands.  He (the great I AM) that created Peter’s mother in law simply spoke to her fever and it left her.   Even her tiredness.    The mighty storms at the sea and in our lives are the same thing!   Subject to the Builder, at the mercy of the Great ‘I AM’!

Mark 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

God is good.  Jesus is God
