Bootcamp

1 Tim 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Most Christians don’t realize it, but our whole life down here is just a short bootcamp to prepare us for the coming long haul (eternity). We are training to become rulers of spiritual and eternal entities.  The beauty is, our mistakes down here are covered by the blood of the Lamb.  We are in a training phase during the 100 years or so that we have down here.  It´s all to make us better in this life, and the life to come.  Our errors and sins don´t define us, they just prepare us for the next ´leadership training session´.

Rev 5:10 “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

How we raise our families, work for an employer, manage employees, attend church etc. will teach us things about leadership down the road. We are in training to learn how to be kings and priests. No bad experience or failure permanently wrecks us, it just teaches us something new. We will rule over angels.  Some people very near and dear to me lost a son to suicide.  They were changed, forever. They were brave, and carried on, but it was never the same.  Little did they know, they were in advanced training to be Kings and Priests.  Rahab the prostitute was the laughing stock of Jerico.  But the fruit of her womb was in the genealogy of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.   She learned from her training in the school of hard knocks, and the people that mocked her didn’t.

Many gentle Christians I know, most of them as a matter of fact, don’t have aspirations to be ‘the boss’. They just want to serve. They want to bless others. That’s great. Many say ‘I don’t care about ‘crowns and rewards’, I just want to get into heaven. I often find myself saying that too, while I am here on this earth. I have a feeling that we will all be thrilled in heaven with our crowns, rewards and positions. We will also know that it wasn’t us, It was all Jesus.

Rev 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne,

We are missionaries because of this eternal perspective. We see every child as a future king, priest, or angel. This mindset gives us relief, joy, motivation and resilience.

Heb 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Watch the video of little 12 year old Raquel, on the youtube video below. Her homelife is unmentionable. Her growth is stunted, her voice is squeaky, she has been ridiculed her whole life. But she is one of the sweetest, kindest, most pleasant human beings Winnie and I have ever met. Oh, and all her old bullies now love her and care for her as well.   She came, she saw, she conquerred.  She’s a born again Christian on her way to heaven. Raquel won the lottery, although judging from her appearances you can´t tell. Talk about a future king or priest with mad people skills. Or maybe she’s an angel.

If you feel like you ‘failed’ with your kids, marriage, ministry, Christian testimony, job, career, don’t worry about it. You ‘perceived’ failures are just training you for the future. Besides, failures are never permanent.  Bootcamp, or any type of special forces training has only one goal, attrition.  The idea isn’t to really teach you anything. It’s about seeing who is a quitter and who isn’t a quitter.  No one wants to share a foxhole with a quitter.  The only thing you have to do on your own in bootcamp is to not quit.  Simply trust the process, it’s automatic. The point is, stay in the game. Don’t quit! This is all just a training camp in preparation for the real event, which is eternity.

Even Jesus talked about it, keep the perspective about eternity. Our lives are just a flash in the pan as opposed to forever and ever.

Matthew 11:11, “Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”
