Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith IN God.

Faith in God is confidence or surety of God’s grace, character and integrity.

We are saved by faith in what Jesus did for us.

Because of our surety of this, we know that we are going to heaven

If we just ‘think’ we’re saved and going to heaven, or hope we are, we probably don’t have the necessary confidence (faith) to be saved.  Likewise, if we think we are going to heaven because of our good works or our own goodness, we are in danger as well.  Please be careful!

Faith in itself, or in something not worthy of faith, is  dangerous.  The only faith worth having is in God.

For example: Experts estimate that the average American high school senior male is 400% overconfident in his self defense skills.  He has 400% too much faith in himself. In other words, if he’s attacked by a truly dangerous person he has a 400% chance of getting seriously hurt or even killed.  Faith in himself, or self-confidence, flies out the door the moment he feels his nose break or his jaw shattered.

I hear the word faith a lot.  I even had a guy down in Panama preaching ‘faith’ to anyone who would listen, but when I asked him ‘faith in what?’ he had a blank look in his face.  I had assumed he was a Christian but he wasn’t.  He was more like a Tony Robbins evangelist.  Jesus wasn’t in his vocabulary.

When someone calls a person or group a ‘faith man’ or in the ‘family of faith’ that really doesn’t say or mean anything.  It definitely isn’t reassuring.

There is a lot of FAITH out there, IE in: institutions, government, ideologies, philosophies, spouses, children, the Bible, faith itself, religion, religious items, rituals, habits. positive talk/confession, America, Family, Church, the Pastor, The Priest, Theology, positive mental attitude, self-help, political parties, presidents, candidates, the military, diet, exercise, self-defense, titles, hard work, brethren, members, groups, strength, youth, health,, the list goes on.

Just as Faith in God from from HEARING the Word of God, LACK OF FAITH comes from listening to something that IS NOT the Word of God.

Jesus is clear.  Have faith in God.  That is not faith that God exists.  No.  We know He exists.  Faith in God means we are counting on Him.  We depend on Him.  He is more than just aware of us.  He will not ignore us when we come to Him in confidence, in faith.  When we have faith in God, we are sure He will do what we ask.

3 John 1:2 is God’s will for us, that believe in Him.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

We ask  according to His will because we know what He wants, and because we love Him we want to do what pleases Him.

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Jesus’ words, not mine!  selah
