Do we preach the ‘truth in love‘? Really? What exactly is the truth?
I met a middle eastern man named Sahara in airport last week. He was kind enough to help out with technical difficulties on my laptop. We were fast becoming friends until I told him I was a Christian missionary. It was as if I slapped him in the face, he shrunk back in fear. I felt bad. Looks like he had some bad experiences with people who claimed to be a Christian. How embarrassing.
2 Thessalonians 2:10
New International Version
….wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
Loving the Truth will save you. Refusing to love the truth will kill you.
People come up with some strange things when they try to believe in something outside of God. As a courtesy, when I am trying to share my beliefs with others, I try to listen to them and their beliefs as well. Sometimes it seems as if the person is delusional.
I recently read an article that stated that satanists actually worship themselves, not the devil. I can say after looking at myself in a mirror that anyone who saw me would say I was nuts if I worshiped myself!
Worshiping God in spirit and in truth will save you. This can only be done once you have met Jesus. It has to do with your identity in Him.
John 8:32
New International Version
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
The Truth shall set you free.
The thing about lying is it’s hard to keep track of. It enslaves you. I know people that have been living a lie for decades. They seem to get more entrenched as time goes on, even though they are sick of it.
There are a few that break through to the light. They are free at last from thebondage and darkness of deceit. Their identity is no longer a false identity, but a true identity in who they are in Christ.
Truth is easy. It requires no work. It is what it is. Truthful people are happier and more relaxed as a rule than a sane dishonest person.
John 14:6
New International Version
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to theFather except through me.”
Jesus is the Truth.
People, even Christians, latch onto ideas that they think are true, but aren’t. Just because we are convinced of something doesn’t mean it is true. When we spread truth we turn on the light. Life comes! Until someone knows the truth they are in darkness.
As a Christian, we should love and seek the truth, on a daily basis. That starts when we know who we are in Him.
God bless you this week.
Love, in Jesus
