Numbers 14: 33 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years,
I was just thinking that the revolution here happened exactly 40 years ago. Now we are having another one. Just when everything seemed to be going so well. It seems God is speaking to us here. Ministry has never been so challenging, yet more rewarding at the same time.
PureHeartChildren’sFund in Managua is still going strong. We haven’t missed a beat. Our school, feeding centers and children’s club are rolling along. Our staff ( 10 full time employees) is perfect! We care taking care of 200 children, right around 90-100 families. With the political struggles, we are receiving a lot of strangers.

Winnie and I have no plans of leaving this work of love. We will be here til they carry us out. PureHearChikdren’sFund is needed more now here than ever before. To God be the Glory!
We always have a few people staying with us for shelter. Right now we two people staying with us for protection from bad people who wish them harm. Manolito and Kevin, pray for them.
Back to my thought on the number 40…..
Just like the Israelites walking in the wilderness, to discover the promised land 40 years later, God is about to do something even more fabulous to Nicaragua. Blood has been spilled. Huge loss of resources, income, lives, livelihood and limbs. All of us has sacrificed something to stay here. Some more than others. God said He let them walk around in the desert so long to ‘show them what was in THEIR hearts’.
Deuteronomy 8:2
And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
40 years is a long time. Some people take a while before they realize how much they need God. It took Nicaragua 40 years to realize as the prophet Jeremiah said, -Cursed is the man who trusts in man, blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord.

Now, on top of the fact that it has been 40 years since the successful sandinista revolution, this protest/ civil unrest has been going on for 40 days and nights.
40 seems to be used a lot in the Bible to show trial, tribulation, trouble and as a result great change and victory.
In the Old Testament, God destroyed the earth with water. He caused it to rain 40 days and 40 nights (Genesis 7:12). Goliath taunted Saul’s army for 40 days before David arrived to slay him (1 Samuel 17:16). When Elijah fled from Jezebel, he traveled 40 days and 40 nights to Mt. Horeb (1 Kings 19:8).
In the New Testament, Jesus was tempted for 40 days and 40 nights in the desert (Matthew 4:2).
God is doing something great on Nicaragua through all this trouble.

Números 14: 33 Y tus hijos andarán en el desierto cuarenta años,
Estaba pensando que la revolución aquí ocurrió exactamente hace 40 años. Ahora estamos teniendo otra. Justo cuando todo parecía ir tan bien. Parece que Dios nos está hablando aquí. El ministerio nunca ha sido tan desafiante, ni tan gratificante como lo es ahora.

Una noticia sobre Nicaragua. 200 personas desarmadas han sido asesinados en protestas pacíficas en los últimos 40 días … Una familia cristiana (6 personas) fue quemada viva en su hogar, incluidos 2 bebés … porque se negaron a permitir que los paramilitares usen el techo de su casa hogar para sus francotiradores . Y mientras presuntamente hace un plan para la paz y las nuevas elecciones … MUNDO ¿dónde estás? ¡Nada en las noticias en los Estados Unidos!

Al igual que los israelitas caminando en desierto 40 años, Dios está a punto de hacer algo aún más fabuloso para Nicaragua. Sangre ha sido derramada. Gran pérdida de recursos, ingresos, vidas, medios de subsistencia y extremidades. Todos nosotros hemos sacrificado algo para quedarnos aquí. Algunos más que otros.
40 años es mucho tiempo, pero algunos de nosotros somos lerdos, y necesitamos mucho tiempo aprender cuanto necesitaos a Dios!

Este protesto / disturbios civiles ha estado sucediendo durante 40 días y noches.
40 parece ser usado mucho en la Biblia para mostrar problemas y como resuelvan a grandes cambios y victorias.
En el Antiguo Testamento, cuando Dios destruyó la tierra con agua, hizo que lloviera 40 días y 40 noches (Génesis 7:12).
