5 Steps of the Roman Road

5 steps of the Romans Road (1 of 5)

1rst step

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Every journey begins with one step.   The road to drug addiction begins with stealing cigarettes and booze from you parents.  The journey of compulsive lying begins with a fib in kindergarten.  The road to perversions begins with kids looking at tiktok.  The road to gluttony begins with cleaning your plate to the applause and delight of your mom. The road to recovery begins with you realizing that you have a problem.  The road to salvation begins with realizing that you need saving.

People always ask me ‘Saved from what? ‘ Hell!   We have all sinned and deserve hell.   Everyone from your precious mother, your darling son, Mother Theresa, Billy Graham, Chuck Smith,The Pope and Adolph Hitler deserve damnation.   We are all sinners and should go to hell.   That is the phrase we are teaching in english class this week. ‘As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:’ The same is true with alcoholics.  Until they realize they have a problem, they can’t take steps to remediate it.

It grieves me that almost all of my old friends and even most family members have abandoned me because of my conversion.  They go to church and are pretty successful people, but want nothing to do with me now, either because of my blunders, or someone who is sold out to Jesus. (I am a combination of both). There are a few loyal friends and family that have stuck with me but not the majority.   Of my high school friends, a handful.   From the army another handful.   And from the car business another handful.   Even people from my church, only a handful.   It’s ok!  I have tons of friends (and family, and fathers, and mothers, and sisters, and spiritual children now) who are totally sold out to Jesus, through faith.  But I am concerned for those who are intimidated by following Jesus.  Do they have saving faith in Jesus?  It keeps me on my knees.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way,
that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

It’s easy to be religious and go to hell.  It’s easy to follow instruction manuals and readings from men who are going to hell.   It has a lulling effect to feel warm and fuzzy feelings on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday and think everything is alright with your soul.  Even better when you say the sinner’s prayer once and cry.   The fact is, simply praying and feelings will carry you to hell.   Religion is like giving a death row inmate a sedative before he is executed.   (Karl Marx said ‘religion is the opiate of the masses’, and he was absolutely correct.)

Personally, if i were being executed for my faith (which is right around the corner I believe) I would rather be scared out of my skull and have my wits about me when I am about to die, than to be out of it with a false sense of security *only to wake up in eternal hell*.   I want to go out glorifying God for saving my soul, and dragging as many souls with me as possible to heaven, even the executioner if possible.

Fact is, there are two types of people on this planet, ‘saved and not saved’.   The Bible calls them ‘believers and non believers’.  If you believe your diet, physical fitness, riches, holy days, prayers,  rites, rituals, false gods and idols will save you, you don’t have a saving faith in Jesus.    If you believe (have complete, resting faith) in Jesus you’re saved.  We are saved by faith.   Our work that we do to go to heaven is faith, not work.   Simply believing is the work that saves.

Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant

The five solas are the guide of whether you are saved or not.  If you are a true believer in Jesus, you automatically believe in the five solas.  You know that believing in Jesus is exclusive.  You can’t believe in Jesus and also in the Pope, Mary or anything else.  Only  Jesus only died for your sins.   The five solas state that Christians are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone.

You have to be saved.   To be saved, you have to realize in the first place that you are not saved, that you are lost.   If you break the 10 commandments, you are a sinner.   Most people can’t even name the 10 commandments but even if they did, who doesn’t covet?   If you are a coveter, you are a sinner and the wages of sin is death (hell). I covet Wolfman Jack’s afro!

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The gift of God is being ‘saved’.   How do we receive this gift?   By being good?  Haha.  I don’t know anyone one good.  You receive this gift of eternal life.  That comes only by being born again.  Even if you are good, and religious, you won’t go to heaven unless you are born again.  We want all our PureHeartChildren’sFund kids, and all our readers (you) to be saved, to go to heaven, and to have a good, abundant life on earth as well.

Here’s my favorite story in the Bible.  I love how ‘The Chosen’ portrays this.  Watch ‘the Chosen’ here. https://www.angel.com/watch/the-chosen/episode/8dfb714d-bca5-4812-8125-24fb9514cd10/season-1/episode-1/i-have-called-you-by-name

John 3:1-3 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
