Every day with Jesus is fun.
Everything about Jesus is enjoyable. When it stops being that way, your heart’s not right. Keep your heart close to Jesus, enjoy and have fun.
Mark 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
One of my many pastor friends that I have for accountability is Pastor Joe Spinosi of CCOB. Like all of my accountability partners, PJ is a straight shooter, to the point of being painful. One day I was pouring my heart out to him and he said ‘you and I aren’t cut out for calm seas, it’s poisonous to guys like us’. While calm seas are tough on guys like us, it’s up to us to change that as we grow into the image of Christ. We grow into His image as we trust more and more in Him. The closer you get to Christ, the calmer your seas will be. And you will learn to love it.
Rev 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal:
For now though, calm seas are poisonous to many of us. If anyone messes up when everything goes well, it’s me. Mental health / VA counselors say we yearn for chaos because we need the adrenaline. Positive Mental Attitude ‘PMA’ and lifestyle coaches will say ‘perceiving, behaving, becoming’. You perceive yourself as a failure, you behave like a failure, you become a failure. When ‘calm seas’ are happening, a person who sees himself as a failure will cause a train wreck just to fulfill his image of what he is and what his destiny is. Calm seas contradict this chaotic person’s personal truth! They are more afraid of being wrong about themselves than embracing the truth. No one is born a failure, but we will be failures if we keep confessing that we are failures, or fat, or sickly, or ugly, or crazy or weak or cowardly or fearful or claustrophobic ,,,, etc.
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Life – Jesus – peace and stillness
Death – Satan – strife and contention
Just as Jesus said ‘peace and be still’ we should speak to others as well as ourselves ‘peace and be still’. These are Words of life, peace and be still Jesus Words. Some of them are:
I feel great
God is good
I am healthy
My kids are blessed
I am blessed
God provides me & family everything we need
I live life in abundance
I have peace in my heart
I am saved
The Creator of the universe is in my heart
I have fullness of joy
I have life in abundance
I will always be mentally healthy
I am happy
Satan’s words are words of death, discord and strife. Satan’s words are the exact opposite of Jesus’ words. Just listen to any popular non-Christian song and you’ll get what I mean. All their words are death words. I’m dying, I’ll die for you, you’re making me crazy … and so on.
Some people tend to criticize the ‘ignorant people’ who believe and practice this Jesus Verse ‘death and life is in the tongue’. Praise God I don’t pay them much heed. My life is 100% better since I have embraced this Godly Proverb that many people ridicule. I embrace it, and I teach it. I don’t have a doctorate in theology but my Galatians 5 fruits are much more visible now than when I went to seminary because I practice Proverbs 18:21 daily.
Matthew 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits
Jesus makes our seas calm, as we seek and trust in Him. His desire is to make our seas calm all the time. When we perceive calm seas as poisonous, or ourselves as chaotic, or failures, whose voice are we listening to? We’re listening to the lies of Satan. When we splash and disturb the calm seas, who are we obeying? The great destroyer himself, Satan. When we go around saying bad things, what are we preaching? We’re preaching from the text book of the father of lies, Satan en persona.
Jesus tells us ‘peace! Be still!’ That is a commandment. It’s not optional. To be unpeaceful and aggravated is sin. Sin is disobedience to God. To create a non peaceful environment is sin. To think unsettling thoughts is sin. The way you keep in peace, and be still is to meditate on Jesus and His Holy Word 24/7/365.
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee
