PHILIPPIANS 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, FORGETTING THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE BEHIND, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Talk about forgetting great victories as well as great failures, Paul wrote this from prison. He did it all. He was one of the top scholars among the Israelites. He had money and respect. Saul (renamed Paul) came from the finest of families and the best of schools. He was probably married and had a respectable family. His failures were greater. He took pride in killing Christian men, women and children. He drug them off personally to be imprisoned, tortured and executed. His highest glory was that he met, Jesus Christ, the resurrected head of the church, FACE TO FACE!
Acts 9:5 “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied.
Paul was literally knocked down by Jesus, and in the processs, was blinded for three days. He talked to Jesus, personally! Three days later Jesus saved His soul, healed his sight and filled him with the Holy Spirit! Paul NEVER mentioned it again in His writings. These were events, not life styles. Old events in the past are useless, because they are in the past. Following Jesus is a lifestyle. Forget everything, from your heathen life, your failures and successes and your Christian life’s failures and successes as well. Yestarday DOES NOT MATTER!
IF YOU WANT TO GROW SPIRITUALLY YOU HAVE TO MOVE FORWARD WITH YOUR LIFE. God is NOT a God of what you did yestarday. That is very good news for me, and for most of us. Even as Christians, I don’t know about you, but I have failed miserably up to this point, in every aspect of my life. I continue to push forward towards the mark. My mark goal is to finish well and to throw any crown I may receive at the feet of Jesus Christ, my only Lord and Saviour. My mark is to hear, ‘Well done thou good and faithful servant’… I don’t want to hear ‘Deannie! you were doing great ,,,, until….’
There are many people who think they have arrived. I myself have made that mistake too many times in my own life. I praise God that I keep getting knocked down. I am very thankful that I didn’t die while thinking I had arrived and knew it all. Once you THINK you ARE at that place in life, you will stop growing. God loves you enough to knock you down, but only if you are humble enough let Him. You are still saved, if you don’t let Him, but that’s it. You are missing out on so much more, eternaly speaking. Your growth has stunted, and you begin to rot and get spiritually stinky.
No one living on this planet knows everythingll! Personally the more that I grow in the Lord, the less I know. Actually, the more I grow in the Lord, the more I am painfully conscious of my own sins, failures, and the weakness of my faith. The younger I was in the Lord, the more I thought I had arrived. A week after I got saved, I thought I knew everything! Now I feel unworthy even to write this missive. There is so much that I still need to learn, even many years after I first believed.
After 18 months of being a true believer, I founded and planted Calvary Chapel Managua. I was the Senior Pastor there. The church grew exponentially, and I hadn’t even read the whole Bible through yet. When I re-read my ‘old sermons from back then’ today, I blush with shame. I was so wrong on so many levels. Believe me, that is one of the many ‘glories’ that I need to forget. It was an excruciatingly bad experience. Today, I am only concerned about what I can do for others, and for Jesus, right here and right now,,,, No more grandiose plans. The future is uncertain at best, and the past is the past, PRAISE GOD!
I have since learned that before I can press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, I have to take the first step in spiritual development by forgetting those things that are behind me. When I used to run cross country, and a competitor wouldn’t let me pass him, I would spit on the back of his head. All of a sudden, he was thinking of me behind him, and his stride would be lost, and I could pass him. If you are thinking about what’s behind you, your are stumbling in your forward movement.
I’ll never be a prosperous ‘successful’ Christian until my “forgetter” is activated. Forget everything! If you are thinking about past glories, you living on the blessings from the past, which is stale manna. God told the Israelites NOT to store the manna from one day to the next. God is a God of today, of the right NOW. Not a God of yestarday. If you are dwelling on the past, you are NOT in the present, and are NOT reaching for what God has in store for you. Don’t try to relive the mountain top experience. If you ever notice a mountain top, there is no green life there. Nothing grows. Never rest on your laurels, it’s spritually deadly.
Good things aren’t the only thing we need to forget. Never live defeated by what people have done to you, hurts you received, failures, nor your past sins either. God has so much more for us. Satan’s number one tool is to get our eyes of the mark, and have us live in the past. That way he can steal our joy in the present. He can’t kill us, but he can make us miserable, thus killing our witness. Forgetting bad things is equally as important as forgetting good things. Satan loves to make us feel guilty about our past sins. He is thrilled when we hold a grudge, or ache from a mistake in the past. Satan loves to use and manipulate weak Christians to constantly remind us of our past as well. Ask for forgiveness from God and the people you hurt and actively forgive those who hurt you, ONCE! Then after you humbled yourself and ask for forgiveness, or have forgiven, move on. If someone brings it up again, politely ignore them. Don’t even dignify them with an answer. You are well with the Lord. Satan’s pawns, both ‘christian’ and demonic will bring up the past every chance they get. They DO NOT WANT YOU TO FORGET, BUT GOD DOES!
ISAIAH 43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and WILL NOT REMEMBER THY SINS.
Again, in the New Testament, God says the same thing.
Hebrews 8:12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and THEIR INIQUITIES WILL I REMEMBER NO MORE.
The Word of God is the final, once and for all cure for painful sin-awareness and guilt. Forget your past! He’s forgotten it, so should we. He wants us, as it says…
Hebrews 4:16 to therefore come
boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need!

John wrote his epistles to Christians, not to the world. (NOTE! We as Christians should read the Epistles and pay extra attention to them, they are letters specifically to us) John was talking to believers when he said….
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.
John was using the word US, including he himself as well. The apostle that Jesus loved, known as the Apostle Of love, Jesus’ pet, had problems with sin like everyone else on the planet, except for Jesus Himself!
God, the creator of the universe, promises to forgive us and to FORGET no matter what we did, nor when we did it! Past present or future! That verse doesn’t belong to the sinner. That’s not a confession the sinner can make. A sinner couldn’ t remember everything he has done wrong because his whole nature is wrong if his spirit hasn’t been born again. John wrote this verse to believing, born again Christians.
God does not want us to sin. But if we do, Jesus Christ is our Advocate with the Father to plead our case. He is our defending lawyer. Satan and his subjects are the prosecution. First law in being in court, don’t agree with the prosecution, not even mentally! Basically, keep you mouth shut and your mind on your defense lawyer. Don’t even LISTEN to the prosecuting lawyer. Besides, your defense lawyer is your friend and your brother John 15 and the judge is God your FATHER!! So the only way you can loose is by opening your mouth, or look guilty. Trust Jesus and Father God. They will deliver you.
1 JOHN 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
The sins of the world are handled, ours among them, IF we let Jesus defend us. We do that by accepting Him. When we are right with Jesus we are right with the Father. We are filled with the Holy Spirit and Heaven bound!
The way we forget everything in the past is to rely on the spriptures, and believe them completely. Not by academically understanding them, using logic, common sense, reasoning, nor the opinions of others. Jesus, through His Word says that when we confess our sins, God not only cleanses us from all unrighteousness and forgives us, but He will not remember our sins anymore.
In order to grow spiritually, every believer needs to take to heart 1 John 1:9 and 1 John 2:1,2 to receive forgiveness for his sins. However, once a believer confesses his sin, he must make the decision to stop remembering them because God forgets them! Don’t let ‘well wishing friends and family’ remind you of your sin. It’s not their job. They are getting between YOU and God.
So forget what the Lord has forgotten. Forget what is behind. If you think about it, it will hinder your spiritual progress. It will keep your faith and prayers from working. I believe it can keep you also from prosperring not just spiritually and can even affect your health. Ever see someone who can’t let something go? They get eaten away with bitterness. They ofter get physically ill. They can’t work, or concentrate, so their income is damaged. I see it all the time. People in that condition CAN NOT GROW SPIRITUALLY.
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

¡OLVIDAR! – El primer paso hacia el crecimiento espiritual.

(Lecciones de la plaga # 17 – Protege tu mente y crece espiritualmente. PONE atención a lo que estás pensando. Pasa más tiempo en desarrollo que en entretenimiento. Como las sandías, comenzamos a pudrir el INSTANTE que dejamos de crecer. Usa la cuarentena como una excusa ser excelente en lo que es bueno e inocente del mal. Lo haces por lo que estás pensando. No te detengas en el pasado. TODOS los que hacen eso no pueden crecer. Olvida tu pasado, tus glorias y tus fracasos. Presiona ¡adelante!)
FILIPENSES 3: 13 Hermanos, no considero que haya aprehendido: pero esta cosa que hago, OLVIDANDO AQUELLAS COSAS QUE ESTÁN DETRÁS, y extendiéndose hacia aquellos cosas que son antes14 Presiono hacia la marca del premio del alto llamamiento de Dios en Cristo Jesús.
Hablando de olvidar las glorias y los fracasos, Pablo (un reo en este entonces) lo hizo todo. Fue uno de los mejores eruditos entre los israelitas. Tenía dinero y respeto. Provenía de las mejores familias, fue entrenado personalmente por Caiphus el sumo sacerdote. Probablemente estaba casado y tenía una familia respetable. Su fracaso fue que era demasiado religioso. Se enorgullecía de matar hombres, mujeres y niños cristianos. Los llevó personalmente para ser encarcelado y ejecutado. . ¡Su mayor gloria fue que se encontró, Jesús! El jefe de la iglesia, CARA A CARA!
Hechos 9: 5 “¿Quién eres, Señor?” Saúl preguntó. “Soy Jesús, a quien estás persiguiendo”, respondió.
Pablo fue literalmente tumbado por Jesús, cegado en el processo. Quedo ciego por tres días. Habló con Jesús personalmente. 3 dias despues, Jesús salvó a su alma, restauro su vista, y lo bautizo en el Espiritu Santo. Pablo NUNCA lo mencionó este incidente nuevamente en sus escritos. Fue un evento, no un estilo de vida. Siguiendo a Jesus es el estilo de vida. Atras no hay nada menos viejos eventos…Olvida todo, desde tu vida pagana, los fracasos y éxitos y los fracasos y éxitos de tu vida cristiana tambien. ¡Ayer no importa!
SI QUIERES CRECER ESPIRITUALMENTE TIENES QUE AVANZAR CON TU VIDA. Dios NO es un Dios de lo que hiciste ayer. Esa es una muy buena noticia para mí y para la mayoría de nosotros. Incluso como cristianos, no sé acerca de ustedes, pero he fallado miserablemente hasta este punto, en todos los aspectos de mi vida. Sigo avanzando hacia la marca. Mi objetivo es terminar bien y lanzar cualquier corona que pueda tener a los pies de Jesús, Mi Señor y Salvador. Mi meta es escuchar, ‘Bien hecho, buen y fiel servidor … No quiero oir’ que estuviste muy bien … hasta que … ‘
Hay muchas personas que piensan que han llegado. He cometido ese error muchas veces en mi vida. Alabo a Dios por haber sido derribado. Estoy muy agradecido de no haber muerto mientras pensaba que había llegado y que lo sabía todo. Una vez que PIENSAS que estás en ese lugar de la vida, dejarás de crecer. Estás salvado, pero eso es todo. Tu crecimiento se ha atrofiado y estás pudriéndote y apestando.
¡Nadie que viva en este planeta sabe todo! Personalmente, cuanto más crezco en el Señor, lo menos sé. En realidad, cuanto más crezco en el Señor, más consciente soy del pecado, del fracaso y de mi débil fe. Cuando era más joven e en el Señor, más pensaba que sabia. ¡Una semana después de haber sido salvado, pensé que lo sabía todo! Ahora me siento indigno incluso de escribir esto, porque hay mucho que necesito aprender, muchos años después. Después de 18 meses de ser creyente, fundé y planté la Capilla del Calvario en Managua. Era el pastor principal. La iglesia creció exponencialmente, y ni siquiera había leído toda la Biblia. Cuando leo mis ‘sermones’, me sonrojo de vergüenza. Estaba tan equivocado en muchos niveles. Créeme, esa es una de las muchas ‘glorias’ que necesito olvidar. Fue una experiencia terriblemente mala. Solo estoy preocupado por lo que puedo hacer por los demás, y por Jesús hoy, el pasado es el pasado, ¡ALABAN A DIOS!Desde entonces, he aprendido que antes de poder avanzar hacia la marca del premio del alto llamamiento de Dios en Cristo Jesús, tengo que dar el primer paso del desarrollo espiritual olvidando las cosas que están detrás.
Cuando solía correr a campo traviesa, y un tipo no me dejaba pasar, escupía en la parte posterior de su cabeza. De repente, él estaba pensando en mí detrás de él, y su paso se perdería, y podría pasarlo. Si está pensando en lo que está detrás de usted, está tropezando en su movimiento hacia adelante. Nunca seré un cristiano prospero ‘exitoso’ a menos que mi”Olvidador” funciona. Olvidalo todo. Si estás pensando en glorias pasadas, estás viviendo de la bendición del pasado, maná rancio. Dios les dijo a los israelitas que NO almacenaran el maná de un día para otro. Dios es un Dios de hoy, del AHORA. No es un dios de ayer. Si estás pensando en el pasado, NO estás en el presente y NO estás alcanzando lo que Dios te tiene reservado. No intentes vivir en la experiencia de la cima de la montaña. Si alguna vez notas la cima de una montaña, no hay vida allí. Nunca descanses en tus trofeos.
Nunca vivas derrotado por tus errores tampoco.
Dios tiene mucho más para nosotros. La herramienta número uno de Satanás es sacar nuestros ojos de la meta y hacernos vivir en el pasado. De esa manera él puede robar nuestra gozo. No puede matarnos, pero puede hacernos sentir miserables. Olvida las cosas buenas. Olvida las cosas malas. Satanás ama a hacernos sentir culpables por nuestros pecados pasados. A Satanás le encanta usar cristianos débiles para recordarnos nuestros pecados pasados también. ¡Pide perdón a Dios y a las personas que lastimas, UNA VEZ! Luego, después de humillarte y pedir perdón, sigue adelante. Si alguien lo menciona, ignóralo cortésmente. Estás bien con el Señor.
ISAÍAS43:25 Yo, incluso yo, soy el que borra tus ransgresiones por mi propio bien, y No RECUERDA TUS PECADOS.
En hebreos heb. 8:12 Dios dice lo mismo, porque tendré misericordia de su injusticia, de sus pecados y de sus iniquidades,NO RECORDARÉ MÁS.
La Palabra de Dios es la cura definitiva, de una vez por todas, de la culpa del pecado. ¡Olvídalo! Nuestra pecado es olvidado por Dios, nosotros también deberíamos olvidarlo tambien.
Dios quiere que, como dice Hebreos 4:16, vengamos
¡valientemente al trono de la gracia, para que podamos obtener misericordia, y encontrar gracia para ayudar en tiempos de necesidad!
Juan escribió sus epístolas a la Iglesia, no al mundo. (Nosotros, como cristianos, deberíamos leer las Epístolas y prestarles más atención, son cartas específicamente para nosotros)
hablando con los creyentes cuando dijo en 1 Juan 1: 9: “Si confesamos nuestros pecados, él es fiel y justo para perdonarnos nuestros pecados y limpiarnos de toda injusticia”. ¡Juan estaba usando la palabra NOSOTROS., Él también, el apóstol que Jesús amaba, conocido como el Apóstol del amor!
¡Dios, el creador del universo, promete perdonarnos, no importa lo que hagamos, ni cuándo lo hicimos! Ese verso no pertenece al pecador. Esa no es una confesión que el pecador puede hacer. Un pecador no puede recordar todo lo que ha hecho mal porque toda su naturaleza está equivocada ya que su espíritu no ha nacido de nuevo. Juan escribió este versículo a los cristianos.
Dios no quiere que pequemos. Pero si lo hacemos, Jesucristo es nuestro abogado ante el Padre para defender nuestro caso. Él es nuestro abogado defensor. Satanás es el abogado acusador. Primera ley en estar en la corte, ¡no esté de acuerdo con el fiscal! Básicamente, mantén la boca cerrada y piensa en tu abogado defensor. Ni siquiera ESCUCHE al abogado acusador. Además, tu abogado defensor es tu amigo y tu hermano * Juan 15 * y el juez es Dios, tu Padre. Entonces, la única forma de perder es abriendo la boca. Confía en Jesús y Dios. Ellos te entregarán.1 JUAN 2: 1 Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis. Y si alguno peca, tenemos un abogado con el Padre, Jesucristo el justo:2 Y él es la propiciación por nuestros pecados: y no solo por los nuestros, sino también por los pecados del mundo entero.
Los pecados del mundo son manejados, SI dejamos que Jesús nos defienda. Hacemos eso al aceptarlo. Cuando tenemos razón con Jesús, tenemos razón con el Padre.
La forma en que olvidamos todo en el pasado es confiar en los spriptures. No sobre entender, sentido común, razonamiento u opiniones de otros. Jesús, a través de Su Palabra dice que cuando nosotros confesamos nuestros pecados, Dios no solo nos limpia de toda injusticia y nos perdona, sino que ya no recordará nuestros pecados. Para crecer espiritualmente, cada creyente necesita aprovechar 1 Juan 1: 9 y 1 Juan 2: 1,2 para recibir el perdón por sus pecados. Sin embargo, una vez que un creyente confiesa su pecado, ¡debe tomar la decisión de dejar de recordarlos porque Dios los olvida!
Así que olvida lo que el Señor ha olvidado. Olvida lo que hay detrás. Si lo piensas, obstaculizará tu progreso espiritual. Mantendrá tu fe y oraciones de trabajar. Creo que también puede evitar que prosperes * no solo espiritualmente * e incluso puede afectar tu salud. ¿Alguna vez has visto a alguien que no puede dejar ir algo? Se comen con amargura. A menudo se enferman físicamente. No pueden trabajar ni concentrarse, por lo que sus ingresos están dañados. Lo veo todo el tiempo aquí abajo. Las personas en esa condición NO PUEDEN CRECER ESPIRITUALMENTE
3 Juan 1: 2 Amado, deseo sobre todas las cosas que puedas prosperar y tener salud, así como tu alma prospere.
