Freedom

FreeDOM. (Free is momentary, freeDOM is your Permanent condition, where you live)

John 8:36 – If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

We all know what free means, but DOM?   Whenever dom is added to a word it means one of three things, or all three things.  1 : the area ruled by kingdom · 2 : state or fact of being · 3 : the group having a certain office, occupation, interest, or character.

DOM at the end of a word means DOMiciliate which is a verb to make one’s home in a particular place or community.

We are set free in Jesus.   Jesus frees us from sin, rebellion, bitterness, anger, condemnation, hell, mental illness, addictions, bad character, criminal tendencies, violence, even from enemies and attacks from others.   Just because you are set free though, doesn’t mean you can’t go back to your bondage.

Prob 26:11. As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.

Moses marched the Israelite slaves out of Egypt.   About 2,000,000 of them, or more.  God saved them from Pharaoh’s cruel slavery and ultimate death.   God also saved their first born.  God set them free from the chains of bondage.  God healed them all.  (He had to.  How else could 80-120 year old men and women who had been beaten and abused all their lives keep up with a forced march of 12 miles a day (carrying everything they owned) in 130 degree heat in the day and freezing temperatures at night?  He prospered them by putting on the Egyptians’ hearts to load them up with gold and silver, and still, after a very short while the freed slaves wanted to be back under bondage.

The Israelites were Free but they weren’t living in the freeDOM land, they weren’t being in freeDOM nor were they about doing freeDOM things.  They were griping and wishing they were somewhere else and not enjoying the fruits of freeDOM.  Egypt means the world in the Bible.  Bondage and world.   The ex-oppressed had a choice of living in freeDOM or going back to slaveDOM (Egypt).   The ex-oppressed were leaning towards going back to slaveDOM and oppression.  Their stomachs (flesh)were leading the way.  Makes a great argument for fasting.

Numbers 11:5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.

They were free but not living in freeDOM.  They were wanted to go  back into slavery, making bricks without straw, because they missed eating good stuff.   They were technically free but they were still living in captivity because of their lusts of the flesh. Temporarily free, but not living in the land of freeDOM.  To have freeDOM in Christ you have to die to yourself and the lusts of your flesh.  My favorite pastor says spiritual wars are wine by two letter.

1. N
2. O

Just say no.

Collosians 3:3-5 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth:

Personally, I know several lifers in prison that completely living in the land of freeDOM, (still in their cells of course).  They are in a constant state of freeDOM mentally and spiritually.  They are all about the freeDOM that being born again gives them.   And their guards, who supposedly are in charge of them, are in total bondage of depraved sinful lifestyles, attitudes and thoughts.

We work with at-risk children here at PureHeartChildren’sFund in Managua Nicaragua.  That is, we work with children at risk of prostitution because of poverty.   They are slaves to poverty.  They have to do stuff against their will to survive.

Whether you’re a businessman, housewife, 3 time looser con, a pudgy perverted correction’s office, a five year old girl trying to please her prostitute mom or a boy just trying to get something to eat, we all have to run from bondage and choose freeDOM, (that can only be found in Jesus Christ).  If not we ARE in slavery to Satan.. We can either live in a land called freeDOM or we can return to the land of our flesh, and be in bondage.

Life is too short.  FreeDOM is a decision made in your mind, and in your spirit. Condemnation takes away your freeDOM.  We are born in condemnation.   Jesus didn’t come to condemn us but to set us free. People’s condemnation of you in your past, and your own sins,  are memories nothing more.   Don’t let them affect you future.  Don’t let them take away your freeDOM offered to you by Jesus.  Repent, ask for forgiveness, move on and be free.

You are what you dwell on.

Phillipians 4: 13. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
