*UPDATE*. Things are a little harsh here right now, but we aren’t going anywhere. We are called here by God, and His calling is without repentance. Our school, english class, soccer team, Bible study and home are all untouched by these ‘changes’. They are under a different category (free education, department of education). But they have closed our little church/feeding center in the dump. We still go as individual friends, but not formally as PureHeart. We’ll go back officially under the school once things lighten up. Right now there are too many tattle tales there. We’re still doing what we always do, just a lot more carefully. More quietly! No postings. No publicaly ‘raising support’ although we desperately need it now more than ever. We are trusting God. We desperately need a vehicle because both ours are being confiscated (registered under our ministry at the dump). Praise God that the two ministries are completely separate. They’re closing the ‘church’ one. The school is fine.
Thy kingdom come!
Don’t like your situation right now?
Change it! No matter if you problem is with your government, personal, physical, mental, finances etc.
Instead of complaining to man, and asking others for help (basically praying to man), go to God and pray to Him. If you are saved and really believe what the Word of God says, you can change things by praying..
God is still on the throne and prayers still changes things.
James 4:3 ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive.
Idle
Matthew 12:36: But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
This missive is for me. I talk too much, too many idle words. This is something I need to work on for myself. I have said things that hurt people. I have also said things that helped people. The problem is that I have hurt more people with my words than I have helped. When I hurt people with my tongue, it was always unintentional. Just idle words that struck deep, causing a lot of damage. Just little a spark. Like a carelessly thrown cigarette in the woods starts a 3 state forest fire.
James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
Words have meaning. Words always have an effect. Words are used either as a weapon or a tool. Idle words seem to be wasted air but they can destroy. Wise men don’t speak unless necessary. Quiet people aren’t always shy, they’re often just being wise. It’s best not to talk if you don’t have anything to say.
James 1:9 Let every man be quick to listen but slow to use his tongue
I never ever screen telephone calls. I always return calls, texts and emails. If you have a friend who doesn’t respond, he’s not your friend. I have a non-believing, invalid friend who is in a nursing home ‘circling the drain’. He is an ex-salesman so he is the ‘king of small talk’. Small talk, chewing the fat, gabbing etc. always leads to sin, for me anyway. My friend, whom I love, can spend literally two hours talking about absolutely nothing. Pro-sports mostly. Not interesting nor important at all. It’s important for him to talk though, so I listen. But basically, except for witnessing a little when I can get in a word edgewise and showing him that he is my friend and highly valued by God, it’s two hours gone. As I said, I never screen calls, but if I did, it would be calls from my invalid friend.
Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Another translation says Don’t be fooled by people whose sentences are compounded with useless words, empty words—they just show they are empty souls.
I never really have a pet peeve. There is one saying though that is becoming more and more popular on facebook. ‘Just saying’ usually followed by something negative. ‘Just saying’ is inferring that what you are going to say is something that doesn’t matter. Why say it then? What is being said when you do say it? Idle words. Words have purpose. To help or to hurt. I don’t have a pet peeve, but if I did, it would be the phrase ‘just saying’, on facebook anyway. I use facebook only to feed and protect starving children. If my retirement pay would cover the costs of doing this I would happily get off of face book. But God hasn’t let me. So I use facebook to minister and to raise money for starving children. But the ‘just saying’ crowd bothers me.
Proverbs 10:19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: But he that refraineth his lips is wise.
I love my wife Winnie. Many think that she doesn’t speak english but she does. She only speaks when she has something to say. The same as in Spanish. She weighs each and every word. When she speaks, everyone listens. I wish I could be like that. Winnie models Jesus.
Jesus weighed His words. For example Herod is said to be in the line of Essa that goes all the way to the Anti-Christ. When Jesus was turned over to Herod by Pilot, ‘He opened not His mouth’ Isaiah 53:7 / Luke 23:9. He had no reason to talk to Herod. So He didn’t speak. If there’s no reason to talk, don’t! Jesus talked to Pilot. Maybe Pilot repented and is saved. We don’t know. Sometimes God shows me not to share with people anymore. Sometimes to even stop praying for them
Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
I’m never idle. Idle means not doing anything. Although it sounds the same, idle has nothing to do with the word idol in meaning. But both are completely useless, and bad for you spiritually. I can honestly say that I am never idle. If I stop for a minute I fall to sleep, which is worthwhile. Being idle is doing stuff non worthwhile. Just killing time, talking small talk, usually sinning in thought, word or deed. Just like worshipping useless paralyzed brainless idols with eyes that don’t see, it’s worthless and leads to uselessness and sin.
God hates both, idleness and idols because both are sin. Idleness is the devils playground. Idle people are not doing anything of importance, just speaking idle words. Idle men means men not working. Unemployed. Idle people loiter. Loitering is illegal because loiterers end up breaking the law. Idle words mean words that aren’t working. Idle words cause ‘forest fires!’ I am living proof. I’m never idle, but if I was, it would be nice for a change. But I’d probably get into trouble.
Matt 20:3 And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace.
If you are idle, get to work! If your words are idle, don’t say them. Words incorrectly used are harmful to both you and to others. Life and death are in the power of the tongue. Greg Lauries says to THINK BEFORE YOU TALK!
T. Thoughtful?
H. Helpful?
I. Intelligent?
N. Necessary?
K. Kind?
I would say THINKF before you talk!
F. Funny?
A drunk once told me that he was fighting to survive. I thoughtlessly told him to quit drinking. As if he didn’t already know that. He hung himself that night. I still kick myself to this day. Seriously, If you speak, speak to help, encourage, edify and exhort.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”
