Proverbios 12:5. The thoughts of the righteous are right
Righteous means right.
To be right with God (Righteous) is a choice.
When Jesus rose from the grave, and showed Himself to the disciples and 500 more people, they believed. They thought right (because they believed) and that’s what made them right with God. Right thinking saves your soul.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
We can go two ways. Either to think right about Jesus and His salvation and be saved or to think wrong about Him and His salvation and be damned.
Right thinking isn’t only our choice. It’s a gift from God, to be able to believe right, to have the faith to be saved. No one can brag that their quick whit, hard work and right thinking saved their souls. Only Jesus’ gift of salvation on the Cross can do that. God saves, nothing or no one else can.
Eph 2:9 Not of works so that no one can boast.
Even as saved Christians we still have choices to make every day between right thinking or wrong thinking. A right man will think righteous thoughts but proverbs 12:5 goes on to tell us that …. the counsels of the wicked are deceit. If something is deceitful, it isn’t right or righteous.
Right thinking is filling your mind with the glory of God. Meditating on Him day and night is the righteous thinking of the right man. Everything you look at is an opportunity to see something good (right thinking) or bad, (wrong thinking). Reading God’s Word and praying is right. Looking at bad things and thinking bad things is wrong. Put your thoughts and eyes on Jesus.
Psalm 1:2 says that the Right man (righteous man)
Has his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
There’s a right way to do things (that leads others to God) or a wrong way to do things, (which turns others away from God).
Worrying for example, sounds right, looks righteous, but is just as much sin as any other. Many Christians think they look right by saying sinful things like ‘brother, I’ve been worrying about you’ but Jesus said that is sin (I am guilty too). Right thinking is God’s thinking. God doesn’t worry, nor should we. Right thinking transforms your mind and yourself into Christ’s image. Christ never worried. We shouldn’t either. Worrying brings no one to Christ. Worrying actually takes you mind off of Christ, and other people’s minds off of Christ. Worrying is Satan’s whisper. Have you ever been celebrating something, having a blast, and then remember a bad doctor’s report and the wind gets knocked out of you? That’s worry. You completely forgot something for a moment and then Satan whispers in your ear and all your joy is gone. Therefore also your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV) ~ For the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Look at the ravens. They never worry. Ravens just like to party, make noise and splash in water. Not pious acting at all. Absolutely Carefree! Yet Jesus uses them as an example. Look at the Lillies of the field. No worries there either. They don’t even have a job. They don’t diet, exercise, go shopping, or put on face cream but Jesus compliments them on their beauty.
Luke 12:24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
Luke 12:27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
When we go to bed at night we should meditate on God and His Word, and His many blessing. That is right thinking. That makes you right (and righteous). Not what could or could not happen tomorrow. Right thinking leads to peace, physical health, good marriages and good families. It’s a great testimony, and will lead others to Christ. Early Christians running in terror for their lives, (heavily persecuted) with no Bibles, spiritual training or anything except love and joy for Jesus turned the world upside down. They were thinking right in spite of all their ‘problems’. Anger, bad thoughts, sickness stress and general unhappiness comes from bad thinking. Most men’s physical health problems come from bad thinking. All crime comes from bad thinking.
That’s our message to the PureHeartChildren’fund kids, to literally throw all their cares upon us (as much as we can handle). Then we teach them, hopefully, how to cast their cares upon Jesus. We teach them to think right (as much as we can) then trust in Jesus. Cast means to throw, hard!
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
