Simple
Psalm 116:6 The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and He helped me.
God loves everyone, but He REALLY loves the simple people. The plain, noble, and unpresumptuous. They’re never fancy nor lofty, but that’s ok. God loves them. For us to be saved, God often needs to bring us down off of our high horses, in order to humble us enough to recognize Him as our only hope.
How quickly we forget though. It’s funny. Everyone seems to look down on simple people. Unfortunately, even many churches filled supposedly with born again Christians avoid the simple folk as well. The ‘simple crowd’ is what God loves however, so I am working on being more simple every day.
SIMPLE is synonymous with SINGULAR in the Bible. Simple (single) does not mean narrow minded. In fact it means the opposite. Simple people don’t judge or hate others because their focus is on God alone. They love a lot and judge very little. Their only goal is to please God in every aspect of their lives.
It’s painful to drag simple people with me to my church because they aren’t received very well. My wife got saved there, and she loves it, but I try to encourage people to congregate near where they live, it’s simpler that way. The solution to ALL of our problems is a personal relationship with JesusChrist, not air conditioned buildings filled with pretty people, tourists and fancy entertainment.
Personally I am more comfortable in a simple church of about 5 people singing old pentecostal songs out of key to a loud, untuned bass guitar that’s missing a string. I get thoroughly blessed by that kind of simplicity. Sometimes however, to be simple you have to go where you’re not comfortable, even to fancy places. CHRISTIANITY IS ABOUT OTHERS! Singleness of mind is simplicity, and that simplicity is found by listening to the Holy Spirit. He will guide you to Christ and Christ alone.
Hard hearts affect hearing and make it difficult to follow the Holy Spirit. This kills all simplicity. Likewise, when there are a lot of things going on in your mind, (by hearing or seeing) it hardens the heart, so it’s a two way street. Complicated stuff enters your heart through your eyes and ears. There is no other way. Once your heart hardens, it affects what you see and hear.
Jesus said in so many words, “If your eye is simple, you will be filled with light; but if your eye is wicked, you will be filled with darkness.” (Matt. 6:22, 23) A simple eye is one that is focused on a single purpose—doing God’s will—not being distracted by undue anxiety over material things. (Matt. 6:19-21, 24-33). The simpler our eyes and ears are, the more Christlike we will be.
Pride is a result of a hard heart. A prideful heart presumes and assumes. Prideful people get offended easily and offend others. Humility comes from a soft heart. A soft heart asks, it doesn’t assume. A soft heart doesn’t get offended nor is offensive. Humble (simple) people are comfortable to be around, and feel comfortable around others. Humble people are simple. Proud people are not. Neither humble nor proud people recognize that they are humble or proud. Others spot it a mile away, but they don’t see it in themselves.
I think the main reason people aren’t simple is because they complicate their lives. When they do that it’s because they overthink things. Take Martha for example in Luke 10:38-42. I think she was a great cook and Jesus loved to eat at her house. So she got proud. Jesus came one day (after just feeding the multitudes) and Martha, without asking, just started cooking something. She presumed He came to eat because of her good cooking and her great service. Because of her pride, and misconception, she got offended by Mary, and then she offended Mary. Jesus had to yell at her to calm her down. Jesus’ abruptness occurred only because Martha didn’t ask Jesus first if He was hungry, she just assumed. Jesus said ‘Martha ‘Martha!’ (It isn’t a good thing when Jesus says your name twice!) She overthought things, and got into trouble with the Son of God because of the hardness of her heart. Her lack of simplicity.
How do we become the ‘simple’ people that God loves? By having simple (singular) eyes and ears. Singleness of vision, and singleness of hearing will never confuse you or complicate your thinking. Singleness of vision, simpleness, in it’s purest for will not harden the heart: Keep bad thoughts out of your head.
When we get one negative thought, all the rest come pouring in. We all get them, admit it.
Here’s how to stop them try this experiment.
In your mind, try to count to 25 while saying out loud ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’! It’s impossible think thoughts and speak verses like this at the same time. One or another, you can’t speak out loud a memorized verse, and think internally. Impossible!!
So the next time you get that first negative thought pop into your mind, start rattling off uplifting Bible verses, and your negative thoughts or temptations will stop immediately.

It it still possible to have a simple, soft, pure heart, for all of us. Just focus on God and His Word.

Salmo 116: 6 El Señor preserva lo sencillo: fui humillado y él me ayudó.
Dios ama a todos, pero REALMENTE ama a las personas sencillas, (simples, humildes, nobles), sin presunción y generalmente pobres. Nunca son lujosos, fachentes ni elevados. A menudo no demasiado brillantes, pero eso está bien. Dios los ama. Para que seamos salvos, Dios necesita bajarnos de nuestros ‘tronos’, para humillarnos lo suficiente como para reconocerlo como nuestra única esperanza. Qué tan rápido nos olvidamos sin embargo.
Es gracioso. Todos parecen menospreciar a las personas simples. Desafortunadamente, incluso muchas iglesias y cristianos supuestamente nacidos de nuevo también evitan a la gente simple (sencilla). Sin embargo, los “simples” son lo que Dios mas ama, así que estoy trabajando para ser más simple cada día.
SIMPLE es sinónimo de SINGULAR en la Biblia, la Palabra de Dios. Simple (singular en enfoque) no significa una mente estrecha. De hecho la palabra SIMPLE (sencilla) significa lo contrario. Las personas sencillas no juzgan ni odian a los demás porque ellos se centran únicamente en Dios.
Es doloroso arrastrar a la gente sencilla conmigo a mi iglesia porque no se reciben bien. Mi esposa se salvó allí y a ella le encanta, pero yo trato de alentar a los sencillos a congregarse en el lugar donde viven, así es más simple. La solución para TODOS nuestros problemas es una relación personal con JesusChrist, no edificios aire acondicionado llenos de gente bonita y entretenimiento sofisticado. Personalmente, me siento más cómodo en una iglesia simple, de 5 miembros con una anciana que canta fuera de tono a de una guitarra ruidoso. Me siento completamente bendecido por su simplicidad. A veces, sin embargo, para ser sencillo tienes que ir a donde no te sientas cómodo. ¡EL CRISTIANISMO ES PENSAR EN OTROS! La singularidad de la mente es la simplicidad, y esa simplicidad se encuentra al escuchar al Espíritu Santo. Él te guiará a Cristo y solo a Cristo.
Los corazones duros afectan lo que oyes y dificultan seguir al Espíritu Santo, matando la sencillez. A la vez, cuando hay muchas cosas sucediendo en tu mente (al escuchar o ver) esto endurece el corazón, por lo que es una calle de dos vías. Las cosas complicadas entran en tu corazón a través de tus ojos y oídos. No hay otra manera. Una vez que tu corazón se endurece, afecta lo que ves y oyes.
Jesús dijo con tantas palabras: “Si tu ojo es simple, serás lleno de luz; pero si tu ojo es perverso, estarás lleno de oscuridad “. (Mateo 6:22, 23) Un ojo simple es uno que se enfoca en un solo propósito: Al Hacer la voluntad de Dios, no distraerse por una ansiedad indebida ni por cosas materiales. (Mat. 6: 19-21, 24-33). Cuanto más simples sean nuestros ojos y oídos, más semejantes a Cristo seremos.
El orgullo es el resultado de un corazón duro. Un corazón orgulloso presume y asume. Un corazón orgulloso se ofende fácilmente y ofende a los demás. La humildad viene de un corazón suave. Un corazón suave pregunta, no asume. Un corazón blando no se ofende ni es ofensivo. Las personas humildes (simples) se sienten cómodas y están cómodas con los demás. Las personas humildes son simples. Las personas orgullosas son complicados. Ni los orgullosos ni los humildes reconocen que son. Los demos vean estes caracterizas, pero los que son orgulloso o humilde no.
Creo que la razón principal por la que las personas no son simples es porque complican sus propias vidas. Cuando hacen eso es porque piensan demasiado. Tomemos a Martha, por ejemplo, en Lucas 10: 38-42. Creo que ella era una gran cocinera y servidora y que Jesús le encantaba comer en su casa. Así que ella se enorgullecía.
Jesús vino un día (después de alimentar a las multitudes) y Marta, sin preguntar, comenzó a cocinar algo. Ella presumió que Él vino solo por su buena cuchara. Debido a su orgullo y su concepto erróneo, Marta la ofendió por la Mary y luego ofendió a Mary. Jesús tuvo que gritarla para calmarla. La brusquedad de Jesús ocurrió solo porque Marta no le preguntó primero a Jesús si tenía hambre o no, ella simplemente asumió.
Jesús dijo ‘Martha’ ¡Martha! (¡No es algo bueno cuando Jesús dice tu nombre dos veces!) Ella pensaba demasiada en las cosas y se metió en problemas con el Hijo de Dios debido a la dureza de su corazón. Su falta de sencillez la puso en agua caliente.
¿Cómo nos convertimos en las personas ‘simples’ que Dios ama? Por tener ojos y orejas simples (singulares). La singularidad de la visión y la singularidad de la audición nunca te confundirán ni complicarán tu forma de pensar. La singularidad de la visión, la sencillez, en su estado más puro no endurecerá el corazón: Guarde su mente!
Cuando tenemos un pensamiento negativo, todo lo demás viene entrando. Todos los tenemos, admítelo.
Aquí es cómo detenerlos
Un experimento sencillo. En tu mente, trata de contar hasta 25 mientras dices en voz alta “Todo puedo hacer a través de Cristo que me fortalece”. Es imposible pensar pensamientos y hablar versos como este al mismo tiempo. Uno u otro, no puedes decir en voz alta un versículo memorizado, y pensar internamente. ¡¡Imposible!! Así que la próxima vez que tengas ese primer pensamiento negativo en tu mente, comienza a recitar versos bíblicos edificantes, y tus pensamientos o tentaciones negativas se detendrán de inmediato.
Satanás NO quiere que practiques esto en tu casa!
Todavía es posible tener un corazón simple, suave y puro para todos nosotros. Solo enfócate en Dios y en Su Palabra.
Salmo 51:10 Crea en mí un corazón puro, oh Dios, y renueva un espíritu inquebrantable dentro de mí.
