Zealous

Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

A zealous person is a person that covets God, and wants others to covet Him as well.  Zeal for God is good.  I have a lot of friends.  Some I consider brethren in the faith, from a lot of different Christian denominations. Some of strongest believers I have ever met are in the weaker or stranger denominations. You know someone is a strong believer when they are zealous for the things of the Lord.   Some of the most solid denominations have some of the weakest Christians. So I have given up trying to figure all that doctrine and dogma stuff out a long time ago. I just know every race, nation, group, denomination in the world has people zealous for God.

My dogma and doctrine is Micha 6:8 To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

That verse alone is almost too much for me to chew on. I don’t have the time nor even the inclination to straighten out others who are probably stronger, more zealous, and more faithful Christians than I am. I want only to act justly (totally upright, honest, faithful to Jesus, sharing His truth with others), love mercy (be merciful with the sin of others and be brutal with my own sin. The moment I’m aware of it, I take care of it), and walk humbly with my God (to be truthful with myself, continuously humbling myself before my beautiful Lord and Saviour. If I ever get to that state of Micah 6:8, I’ll be satisfied. But I don’t see it happening any time soon. The way to get there eventually is to be zealous, and to not give up. Trust Jesus.

Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

One of the churches I consider weaker, has a pretty strong Christian going to it. Irregardless of my thoughts about the church he goes to, my friend seems to really understand the Gospel, and for some reason the Lord keeps him there. I have seen this happen many times. God is good, He does love everyone, and He doesn’t want anyone to perish, but for all to have eternal life.

2 Peter 2:3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

This friend of mine called me a zealot, and not in a good way. It made me sad. Actually, I like being called a zealot because I am a fanatic for Jesus, commonly known as a Jesus Freak. I want to be zealous for the things of God. I even pray to become more zealous. I want my own children to be zealous, and to be surrounded by zealots. I pray that God sends fanatics into my children’s lives. I pray for my friends in prisons in Central America and Cuba to have zealous cell mates. I pray that my kids in our schools and feeding centers have zealous family members and friends. It’s good to be fanatical about God, because He was so fanatical for us that He sent His only begotten Son to die for us.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I was sad though because I feel that while my friend is a Christian, he’s slowly changing his thinking. Hopefully I just misunderstood what my friend was saying. But how is being zealous for God a bad thing among believers? If you feel you aren’t as zealous as you were for the things of the Lord, Repent. Either you’re on fire for the Lord or you’re luke warm, which is dangerous. I want to encourage every one to seek zeal from the Lord. If anything is discouraging you in this quest, RUN FROM IT! Even if it seems religious or even churchy, if it doesn’t make you more zealous, it is having the opposite effect on you, so turn away from it!

2 Timothy 3:5, Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Every week #PureHeartChildren’sFund helps everyone and anyone who is truly needy, as much as possible. But I particularily love helping that Christian brother or sister who is struggling, so that their zeal for the Lord isn’t quenched. This week we have had heavy rains and some flooding. It is a blessing to help these people who are praying to God for relief as their tin roof is caving in and then we show up to help them. Prayers answered, God is glorified and zeal is renewed. Being zealous is contagious. Being zealous is fun and gives purpose to life. Zealous people are shown quite frequently in the series `The Chosen`. A zealous person, for example, is Peter when he catches so much fish that it sinks the boat, or the woman at the well in the last episode of season one. Watch the whole series here for free https://thechosen.link/1Y1R7 , it will teach you zeal.

Teaching zeal is important. We teach our kids in the dump and school to have zeal for the Lord. We teach the staff to be zealous. When people reach out to me for prayer, which I gladly do of course, I also remind them to be zealous for God, and earnest when they pray themselves. I don’t pray for them, I pray with them. As a result we are seeing a lot of people getting saved, reconciling with the Lord, and being healed. The ministry is growing by leaps and bounds. That makes me more zealous than ever. Zeal and faith go hand in hand. We will lose zeal when we begin to doubt (losing faith). When we lose faith, suddenly lose zeal. Faith and Zeal are like siamese twins. One can’t live without the other.

Zealous people always give time, energy, attention and money joyfully because they understand the power of giving. They give out of faith, and zeal for God.  They are happy to do it. I love giving because it helps others become even more zealous for God. PureHeartChildren’sFund not only provides a lot of money to the whosoevers who are in need, scholarships for college, medical emergencies etc but we also financially support other things. Not with donations, of course, but from the income my own online digital business, retirement and VA disability. From these personal resources, we take out our own family personal expenses, tithing to our home church, a school and feeding center in Islambad Pakistan.  Also, random fun stuff. See the picture*.  What’s left over goes into our own ministry at PureHeartChildren’sFund Managua.

*Natalia is an orphan.  Her mom was brutally murderred in cold blood last January.  Today though, Natalia is so proud. She found a pair of shoes in the garbage dump. First pair of shoes I ever saw her wear shoes. And she got them herself. What an honor it is to buy her a new pair of shoes. Thank you for helping us to help them.  So much fun if you are a zealot!

I want more money to be able to fanatically and enthusiatically have more money to give away.  Zealous people are giving people, because God is a giving God. It is my greatest joy, with the exception of just worshipping God. I guess giving is a form or worship as well.

Zealous people give their all. All their time, energy, attention and money to help others to be more zealous. Whatever you do, don’t stop being zealous for the Lord, because He is zealous for you.

Romans 8:12 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

Small praise report; I am so healthy it’s ridiculous, I love and cherish my wife, we have all that we need (more than enough so we can help others), my kids are healthy, and our ministry is flourishing. God is good!
