Praise God!! I may be going home on the 4th of April, Lord Willing! Pray that I can find a cheap ticket. Pray that my good ankle and finances hold up. Lots of extra costs, especially a last minute plane ticket. Also, becoming a recognized non profit in Nicaragua is really expensive with the lawyer’s unexpected costs 🙁
But God is good. VA has been more than good, and God even more so.
END OF MONTH!
Galatians 4:10 you observe days and months and seasons and years. I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain.
God teaches us specifically to not worship special days more than others. For a true Christian, every day is Christmas, Saturday, Sunday, day of Rest, thanks giving, resurrection Sunday. But He does talk a lot about timing. Especially first fruits, first thong in the morning, immediately after harvest (payday) etc. It shows a condition of the heart, and also just plain common sense. It’s a lot easier for me to tithe for example the first of the month than the end of the month when we have no money, not even for the bare essentials. We always end up with more month left over for money. Firstfruits show you eagerly conforming to God’s will. I want to do all things immediately and intentionally for God the moment I see His will in the Bible or daily life. Waiting till the last minute (end of month) shows a reluctance.
Leviticus 23:9 when ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:
Putting things off Godly things, or worldly things, til the end of the month are dangerous. In the car business salesmen and their sales managers take ridiculously low deals to bring back customers they offended at the beginning of the month. That’s IF you remembered them. You can easily forget people, promises, Godly commitments to do, or come up with a great excuse to not do it. But the fact is you really don’t believe that it was that important. But mainly, for this devotional, it’s sabotaging your spiritual life. You are saying to God either ‘I really don’t believe in you or that ‘You aren’t that important to me’. It’s not good for your relationship with God. The following is from David. I don’t think he waited til the end of the month to worship God. Let’s intentionally seek Him more. Our mission is to create in the children and the rest of the people of Nicaragua a real thirst and hunger for God so they won’t treat Him as just another ‘end of the month thing’.
Psalm 63:1 a Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
