Gates

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

The gate is just wide enough for one man at a time, Jesus and His followers. The only way you can get through that narrow gate is single file, following the leader which is Jesus. You have to pay attention and keep your eyes fixed squarely on Him.

Jesus said there was Only one way to heaven and He was it.

John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

How do you follow Jesus? By reading the Bible, and by prayer. When you talk to Jesus, MOST times He will answer you through His Word. Jesus is the Word. You can’t be looking around all over the place to get through the narrow gate. Likewise, it’s easy to get through the gate if you are one step behind Him with Laser Focus. Jesus is the Word, and by focusing on the Word we are focusing on Jesus.

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I recently had a revelation!I I needed to read these verses about 5 times to grasp it, but they showed me something valuable.

Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”

The Word says we are going to be taken care of and a LOT of good things are promised to us IF we go through that gate. In fact, the Bible say that wee will be taken care for the rest of our eternal lives! Verses like”If we confess with our mouth believe in our hearts we’re saved”, “By whose stripes ye were healed” and “I have never seen the righteous begging bread” confirm that. The Word says that we are saved, healed and prosperous. BY THE WAY, THE BIGGEST AND MOST IMPORTANT MIRACLE IS THAT WE’RE SAVED. But we NEED to get through that strait gate, and all of that is ours as long as we abide inside the gated area, which is God’s presence.

The KEY to getting through that narrow gate and getting everything that God has promised us is by staying focused on Jesus, the Word. If that Word doesn’t depart from before our eyes, (if we keep the Word (Jesus) in the foremost parts of our minds, and stay in prayer and gratitude) we will see ourselves saved and well, financially as well as physically. We will see ourselves with what God says belongs to us, IF we don’t take our eyes the Word, JESUS, we will stay here He led us, through the gate and to the secured area inside.

I used to think that the following statement was about weak missionaries, or the weak Christians during the times of persecution but it really applies to all of us Jesus followers.

Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Looking back slows you down and makes it hard to pass through the only gate or door. Like the Hymn says, Keep your eyes upon Jesus, Look full on His wondrous face…

If we keep your eyes on Jesus and His Word we won’t doubt our salvation. We will live healthily and have a great work ethic. God saved us and will keep us healthy and productive. If we see ourselves unsaved, sickly, and broke, we will begin to take our eyes off if God’s Word and do stuff that will cause us to drift, make us sicker (if nothing else, just by talking about how sick we feel) and failures. We will see ourselves as unhealthy and unsuccessful in our jobs and relationships etc. because we are not dwelling on Him.

When we take our eyes off of Jesus we begin to say really negative things to ourselves and those around us. We are still saved, but we may be such a bad witness that someone else might loose that opportunity, and bring tragedy upon ourselves as well.

Prov 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue:

Taking our eyes off of the Word will place our eyes on something else and we will miss the narrow gate. We will see ourselves getting worse, because we believe in our own weaknesses more strongly than in God’s strengths. His Word would have departed from before our eyes and we are looking at something else, loosing our way. We’re will be seeing ourselves with something else, and we would self-sabotage/destruct to fulfill what we believe to be the truth.

Focus on Jesus, the Word, don’t take your eyes off of it. The only thing in this life that matters really is getting through THAT GATE, and getting others through that gate as well. God has a future and a hope for those who do. THAT IS OUR HOPE FOR THE CHILDREN AT PUREHEART, TO GET THEM THROUGH THAT GATE AS WELL.

Puerta
Juan 10
¿Cómo sigues a Jesús?
Proverbios 4: 20-22 “Hijo mío, atiende mis palabras; inclina tu oído a mis palabras.
