Leadership

John 13:3-4 (Jesus) got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him.

Neither the words leaders nor leadership are words found in the KJV!  In fact, worldly leadership styles are the opposite of the Jesus style.  Jesus led, and leads, through serving.

Satan counterfeits God in everything, including leadership as opposed to serving. He’s a cheap knock off of. Satan wants to be God but he can’t be. He doesn’t possess any of the ATTRIBUTES OF GOD:

1 – Eternal. Only God is eternal. Satan is NOT eternal because he was a created being. Eternal means no beginning nor end. Created beings have a beginning. God is eternal. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost were here before time. They have no beginning or end. We will all live forever, either in heaven or hell, but we all are created.

Satan can’t even begin to honestly imitate this because everyone knows that he’s a fallen angel, that God created. He emphasizes that he and his followers will live forever, and they will, in hell. The Bible calls it eternal death.

2 – Omnipresent. Only God (Father, Son, Holy Ghost) is omnipresent. Omnipresent means in all places, in all times, at once. Not only is Jesus here with you right now, but He is already there with you at a future date. All three are in all places at all times. Past, present and future. God doesn’t operate in realms of time. He invented time for us in Genesis 1 (moon, sun etc.)

Satan imitates God using his fallen angels that he convinced to revolt against God. A third part of the angels in heaven followed him. These fallen angels are demons. The demons (fallen angels) are his cheap imitation of the Holy Ghost. Due to the vast multitudes of demons, they can be in every church service, prayer meeting, believer’s prayer closets. Satan acts like he is everywhere, but he isn’t. He only has information given to him by his demons. But none of them, including Satan himself, are omnipresent.

3 – Omniscient. All knowing. Only God is all knowing. Satan nor his demons can read your mind. Neither Satan nor his demons knew what God the Father and God the Son were planning when Jesus went to the Cross. Satan thought he won. Boy was he surprised! Satan acts like he is all knowing by information from his demons, but extremely limited. That’s why Jesus carefully marked His words. That’s why we should be careful how we talk. Demons can’t read our minds, but they can hear us and see us.

That brings us to the topic of leadership. Leadership is a cheap knock off imitation of what Jesus did when He walked among us. Leadership is the opposite of servanthood.   Modern leaders are usually in it for themselves.   Jesus type Servant/leaders are in it for the Kingdom of God.

Jesus served as a loving servant and people followed out of love. Jesus loved everyone, didn’t coerce anyone one. He washed feet. He said the last are first. That’s what Jesus said, and did as a lifestyle, not just a teaching moment.

Jesus followed His Father, our Father. As pastors, parents, missionaries, teachers, soldiers, bosses, we should do the same thing. The disciples followed Jesus as Jesus followed Father God. People will follow us as we follow Jesus.

1 Cor 1:11 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
