John 3:3 Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
There are a lot of ‘agains’ in the new life in Christ. One of the hardest things I have to re-enforce (enforce again) to the PureHeartChildren’sFund kids (and our own kids) is that the only thing that is the end of the world is the end of the world. When we blow it, just get up, and try again. The only time you loose is when you quit. Winners never quit, and quitters never win. Every day I blow it as well, so I am speaking to myself. When I feel like I lost (my temper, a friend, my diet plan, my exercise regime, my prayer life, my Bible study, my joy, my peace) I have to physically and mentally make myself re-sign (sign again) my mental contract to keep on keeping on. For a fraction of a second I may think about quitting, but like any negative or sinful thought, I only give it 1/5 of a second. Then I take my thoughts captive. You do that by dying to your feelings and your capricious thoughts, every day.
1 Cor 15:31 I die daily.
People often act surprised that I still do what I am doing. They say stuff like ‘ You’re still in Nicaragua? Wow! I thought you would have quit by now (unfortunately, many missionaries quit). No I say, God doesn’t repent of His calling
Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
Many also ask if I am planning on retiring anytime soon. I retired 2 years ago financially. But here’s the following verse about retiring from serving God)…..
‘……..crickets…….’
No where in the Bible does it say to retire from serving God. Granted, I played soccer with a bunch of teenagers recently. Probably won’t do that again, but as long as I can walk and stand, I’ll teach and visit. And when I can’t stand anymore I’ll teach sitting down. When my back won’t let me sit much, I I’ll continue emailing, texting and phone calling lying down. God has me for the rest of my life. Every day I am born again, again. Every day I re-up (re-enlist). ‘Enlist again’ in the Lord’s Army. Every day I re-sign the contract of surrendering my life to the Lord, to my marriage, to my own children, to our ministry at www.PureHeartChildrensFund.org. I get re-filled with the Holy Spirit. You never loose if you never quit. As long as you abide in the vine you can not loose your salvation.
John 15:4-5. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
As long as I live, I will die daily, to be able to abide in Jesus. It’s a continuous decision. Don’t quit. Even if you are tempted to, God is more faithful than we are. He watches our heart.
Psalms 146:2. “While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.”
It’s all a choice. People ask me if God choose us to be His before the beginning of the world, or do we have to choose Him during our lives. My answer is a resounding Yes! He doesn’t have time-zones. We do. He knew before the creation of the world who was going to say Yes and choose Him. The Cristian life, of again and again, rebirth, re-signup, re-filling of the Holy Spirit, re-commitments, re-bounds, re-enforcement is a constant stream of choices and saying Yes to Jesus. Keep on saying yes!
Joshua 24:15 choose this day whom you will serve,,,,. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
