Step 3 in the Roman’s Road

Go Winners!!  Praying before a match.  We have a new life, and new opportunities in Christ. Our team was fortunate enough to find someone willing to pay for 80% of the cost of full uniforms (including shoes). The boy in the blue (opposing team) didn´t have shoes.  Only socks, and beat us anyway.  So Team Winners is going to bless him with new shoes next week, and will try beat him again! That’s what Winners do. We are Winners because we have faith in Jesus Christ. We didn’t WIN this week, but we win by buying him shoes. This kid’s Pelé material though. Haha!

Step 3 in the Roman’s Road to Salvation

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

As a heathen I always wondered why God the Father didn’t die for us instead of letting God the Son die for us.  I felt that would be the best way to show His love for us.   That was, of course, until I had my own son.  It would be much easier for me to die for a bunch of selfish sinners than to watch my son die.

God showed His great love for us that He gave what was most important to Him.  Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son (Emmanuel, God with us, God Himself) who is perfect in every way.   Picture this.  We are like insects.    He became an insect, just like us.  Then He let us torture Him and kill Him in order to save us.  If I was God, I would have squashed all the insects and started again.  But it was God’s perfect plan, to give us the opportunity to choose Him in order to be saved.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God loves us!  Just as we are.   Even if we never accept Him and reject Him, He will never stop loving us.   His heart will be broken to lose us, but if we reject His free gift of salvation, we abandon Him.  He never abandons us.  When we reject the urging of the Holy Spirit up until we die, we will go to hell.  Our choice not His.   If you have breath in your lungs and blood flowing through your brain as you read this, there is still time.  When that stops, your time is up, and you’ve made your decision.  God did not.  He is waiting for you.

Matthew 12: 31 And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

Like we teach the kids, we are at the 3rd step on the road to salvation.  The first was recognizing our sinfulness.  We are all sinners. The second step is realizing where we deserve to go as sinners, and our option if we get saved.  Now we have taught the third step.  It´s His plan to save us.  God´s not mad at you, He´s mad about you! God is good and merciful.

2 Peter 3:9 states, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

So, as a refresher, the steps towards peace with God so far are;

1. We’re all sinners Romans 3:23
2. Wages of sin=death Romans 6:23
3. Jesus died for us Romans 5:8

Until next week!  God bless you!!
